Hello all. It has been over a year since the previous rules post was created, and as such many things have needed adjusted/changed. Please take the time to read over the rules, as there are numerous changes. A big new addition is the introduction of “recommended punishments”. These are intended to give players an idea of what kind of punishment can be expected for breaking different rules, but be warned: not every staff member/helper will punish the same. These are only to give an idea. Suggestions will be considered, and feel free to cry abuse at me if you don’t like the rules.
Please note that these rules are subject to change. Please check back regularly.
Right, onto the rules.
1.0 - General Information
1.1 - The Admins
Breaking these rules will result in appropriate measures taken by the admins.
Staff instruction is to be followed.
If a Staff member makes a decision that you don’t agree with, after talking to the Staff member reach out to another Staff member. However, do not spam multiple Staff members in rapid succession. This will result in a harsher punishment than what you would have had previously.
If a Helper has made a decision that you don’t agree with, ask them who their respective Staff member is, and escalate it to the relevant Staff member.
Treat the judgement calls made by Staff and Helpers equally. Just because someone is a Helper, it doesn’t make their decision of lower importance.
Helpers must state which Staff member they are under, if asked. This is to make escalation easier in the event of a decision not being considered fair.
The recommended punishments listed throughout this are to be taken with a grain of salt, as the given punishments can vary heavily depending on context, number of different offenses, etc.
1.2 - Appealing Bans
If you are banned (temp-ban or perma-ban) and you wish to appeal it, you must create a new post and use the following template:
-Who banned you:
-The reason you were banned for:
-The time you were banned (date/time):
-Screenshot of the ban message:
1.3 – In-Game Names
Your Steam name must have readable characters that can also be pronounced in English to ensure that you can be targeted in-game. It has to be easy to read in the common English language, and your name cannot have special characters.
An example of an okay name: Oskar, Aaron, xX_Bbmonster_Xx, mehairypenis
An example of a not okay name: **"!#%%&, Я перевел это, ይህንን እተረጉመዋለሁ, ɆĐ₲ɆⱠØⱤĐ
Admins will ask you to change your name if it is unreadable/unpronounceable. Failure to do so will result in the following recommended punishments:
1st time – Warning
2nd time – Kick
3rd time – Kick
4+ times - Temp-ban (30 minutes + 10 minutes per extra offence above 4)
1.4 – Sprays
Any sprays that may seem offensive to others (racial things, overdone jokes to the point they are offensive, swastikas, etc), or any kinds of pornographic sprays are prohibited. Loli, scat, gore and child porn are all not allowed. Pornographic includes genitalia, female nipples, and overtly sexual sprays (including real, anime-style, furry, etc.). An admin will tell you to change your spray, and failure to do so will result in the following recommeded punishments:
1st time - Warning
2nd time - Temp-ban (10 minutes)
3rd time - Temp-ban (1 day)
4th time - Perma-ban
1.5 – Discrimination
Discrimination in any form (sexism, racism, prejudicial remarks) is not permitted on any server. This is mainly in regards to targetting a specific player, but spamming these kinds of things will also not be tolerated.
Admins will tell you to stop, and failure to do so will result in punishments based on the severity of the offence. The recommended punishments are as follows:
1st time – Warning
2nd time – Temp-ban (10 minutes)
3rd time – Temp-ban (1 day)
4th time – Temp-ban (1 week)
5th time – Perma-ban
1.6 - Disrespect
This ties into rule 1.5. Players must conduct themselves appropriately when communicating with others. Swearing, insults, etc. are allowed provided both sides find it funny and are okay with it. Do not harass people. Period. If an issue between you and someone arises, take it to an admin. Recommended punishment for disrespect/harassment are as follows:
1st time - Warning
2nd time - 3 slays
3rd time - Temp-ban (1 day)
4th time - Temp-ban (1 week)
5th time - Perma-ban
1.7 - Scamming
Do not scam people. If you catch someone trying to scam you or someone else, gather evidence (if any exists), and take it to an admin, preferably a member of Staff. Punishments for scamming are as follows, but will be harsher if you refuse to give the items back:
1st time - Temp-ban (1 day)
2nd time - Temp-ban (1 week)
3rd time - Perma-ban
1.8 - Ghosting/Meta-gaming
If you are dead, you are not allowed to tell someone information that they could not have otherwise known. This can be through private messaging, third-party software (such as Discord) voice chat, etc. You also are not allowed to reveal who your fellow Traitors are, including while alive. Punishment for ghosting/meta-gaming is as follows:
1st time: Temp-ban (2 weeks)
2nd time: Perma-ban
1.9 - Hacking
Do not make use of any client side modifications to try to gain an advantage. This includes hacks and scripts, including aimbot, wallhacks, etc. Punishments for hacking are as follows:
1st time: Perma-ban (with appeal on forums)
2nd time: Perma-ban (without appeal)
1.10 - Alternate Accounts
Normally, alternate accounts are allowed. However, in the event that you are banned, being found to have used an alternate account to circumvent the ban will result in you losing the ability to try to appeal your ban. The alternate account will be given a perma-ban. In addition, if you didn’t already have a perma-ban, then your ban becomes a perma-ban.
1.11 - Avoiding Punishment
Do not leave while an admin is dealing with reports related to you, unless you explicitly tell the admin that you need to leave for a particular reason. This applies until you have served at least 1 slay. The punishment for this is as follows:
Each occurrence: +2 slays
1.12 - Exploiting/Glitching
Exploiting glitches to reach otherwise inaccessible, unreachable or hidden areas is not allowed.
Abusing unintentional game features is also prohibited. Glitching a door stuck, prop-surfing out of bounds, etc. are not allowed.
Prop-surfing is allowed provided you are still see-able, within the map boundaries, and able to be shot. An example is prop-surfing onto the roof of the tower on minecraft_b5.
Recommended punishments for exploiting/glitching are as follows:
1st time: 5 slays
2nd time: Temp-ban (1 hour)
3rd time: Temp-ban (1 day)
4th time: Temp-ban (1 week)
5th time: Perma-ban
1.13 - Spam
Do not spam, be it normal chat, micspam or admin chat. Chat spam includes repeating messages in a short period of time, rapidly sending messages with no reason, and spamming short commands very quickly without a good reason. Micspam includes constant singing, screaming, repeating yourself multiple times, and playing music.
It is not spam if you are trying to KOS someone while fighting.
Recommended punishments for spam are as follows:
1st time (any) - Warning
2nd time (chat) - Lose access to typing in chat for 10 minutes
2nd time (micspam) - Lose access to mic chat for 10 minutes
3rd time (chat/mic)/2nd time (admin chat) - Kick
Repeated offences - Temp bans (30 minutes + 30 per extra offence)
1.14 - AFK Farming
If you are AFK for more than a few minutes, you MUST either go into spectator, or leave the server. Sitting AFK in-game to gain levels is not allowed as it not only is you getting things without putting in any effort whatsoever, but it also disrupts the flow of the game for those who are alive as you could be a Traitor and they must wait till overtime to kill you.
Being AFK while playing for too-long will result in you being put into spectator at first. Repeated incidents will lead to kicks and eventually temp-bans.
2.0 - In-game Character
2.1 - Random Death Match (RDM)
Any player without valid reasoning cannot kill another player, appropriate reasoning to kill the player is needed. This is otherwise known as RDM (Random Death Match). These are the recommended punishments for RDM:
RDM an Innocent: 1 slay
RDM a Traitor: 2 slays
RDM a Detective: 2 slays
Give a dumb answer to the report: 1 slay
—Examples include “asdfasdfasdf”, “fuck you”, and “no I didn’t” when you know you did
4 RDM in one round: Temp-ban (1 day)
Remember these while reading, as they will be referred back to throughout section 2.0.
2.2 - Valid KOS Reasons/Killing Players
There are many valid KOS reasons and they all work in different situations and scenarios. Here are a few:
Holding/Using a Traitor-only weapon without announcing that they got it from a Traitor.
Ignoring unidentified bodies/C4 etc.
Turning themselves in I.e “I’m a traitor, in the Traitor room” etc.
Seeing a player inside of a Traitor only room, when they haven’t stated that they were let in.
Failure to answer to a life check. (only in overtime, See rule 2.8).
Throwing an incendiary grenade that damages other players near the player.
Pushing someone with a crowbar near an edge or hazard.
Preventing an Innocent victory or goal (This includes diamond blocks/map specific goals).
Keep in mind that this is nowhere near the full list, as it depends on situations, scenarios, and context.
2.3 - Invalid KOS Reasons/Killing Players
There are many invalid KOS reasons which are not allowed within the server. Here are a few:
A player uses the same weapon as the killer (This one’s a bit difficult. Depends on several things).
The player has this skin or that hat, etc.
A player is AFK [ask and admin to force them to spectate, if none are around ONLY kill them in overtime].
Being in a public area [Players are allowed free-roam of the map, you cannot KOS someone for entering an area minus traitor only areas].
A grudge held in a prior game upon a player.
A player has taken damage.
The player throws a smoke grenade.
A player looks at you/follows you [Unless after given some warnings (look at 2.8)].
Traitors are allowed to make false KOS’ on other players but must be aware that they are likely to be KOS’d themself if their KOS is followed.
Recommended punishments for calling improper KOS’ are considered under the punishments for RDM, but are very case-by-case.
2.4 - Overtime
In overtime you can kill on suspicion. However, the karma loss is on you and you cannot just kill anyone just because its overtime, as you need any other reason apart from “Its overtime, so I can kill you”. Most other reasons are fair grounds. Please keep in mind the other rules when giving a reason.
Recommended punishments for killing off of bad reasons are considered under the punishments for RDM.
2.5 - Player VS Player
If two (or more) players are fighting and you have no proof of who may be the Traitor, you must not join in the fight. You must wait until the fighting stops, see if bodies are identified, and if they are, question the survivor(s) about what happened.
Recommended punishments for jumping into fights without a proper reason will be decided based on RDM punishments, depending on who died because of you.
2.6 - Crossfire
This one is a bit difficult. Both the players and the staff will have to come up with a solution. However, if a player is randomly firing at a wall, someone walks in-front of it and stands there long enough to be killed, it is the shooter who is at fault. If the shooter is firing at a traitor (for example) and another player walks in-front of the bullets, gets killed by it, then the staff handling the situation will have to use their own judgement, depending on how careless the shooter was, or if warnings (KOS this player etc) have been given.
Recommended punishments for cross-fire are considered under the punishments for RDM.
2.7 - Traitor Baiting
When in-game you cannot commit traitorous acts as innocent/detective. Some examples:
Do not shoot nearby players to scare them. Do not try to shoot directly next to someone to scare them either.
Do not throw random nades or discombobs near players.
Do not carry around explosives near other players. Do not set explosives near other players.
Do not try to propkill/push people off of cliffs. Same rules apply with crowbar pushing.
Recommended punishments for traitor baiting are considered under the punishments for RDM, and being killed for Traitor baiting is non-punishable, assuming the person was actually Traitor baiting.
2.8 - In-game Warnings to Players
When issuing a warning to a player in-game, make sure that it is through the chat medium so that everyone can see it. Make sure that you give the player a couple warnings (Minimum of 2), and after that you may then declare a KOS because of their actions. Make sure you have at least a 3-4 second gap between the warnings. If someone says “you can’t shoot me, that’s RDM” even when you warn them, it’s their own fault.
If a user is door/body Blocking (See rule 2.9)
If a user is following you across the map (You MUST have FULL line of sight every time you issue a warning.)
If a user is Aiming a gun at you when you are standing still.
Recommended punishments for failing to follow proper warning procedure are considered under the punishments for RDM.
2.8b - Detective Warnings/KOS Reasons
As a detective, you may issue a warning to players to not do/use something, but you must still use valid KOS reasons, and not make up your own false reasons.
Some examples of valid detective KOS reasons are (and can only be used during OVERTIME):
Refusing to go into the traitor tester after being asked multiple times.
Using a health station repeatedly without permission.
Refusing to cease fire.
These are not all the valid scenarios for detectives to KOS someone, but make sure that they follow what is stated above relating to false reasons.
Recommended punishments are considered under the punishments for RDM.
2.9 - Blocking
Players cannot physically trap a player inside a building/room by blocking a door with props etc. This includes spamming “E” on a door. This is strictly prohibited and will get you punished. Same rules apply if you barricade yourself in. It keeps the other players out.
If a player is body blocking you and causing you not to be able to gain access to a certain area of the map, follow the proper warning procedure under rule 2.2.
The recommended punishment for blocking is as follows:
Blocking a door: 1 slay
Trapping players in a building/room: 1 slay
Barricading yourself in a location: 1 slay
2.10 - Life Check
To life check in-game you must type rather than use your microphone in-case players cannot hear it, but you are allowed to also say it through your microphone provided you have said it through the chat. Anyone can start a life check, but it must be during overtime, and everyone must be given sufficient warnings and time (at least 10 seconds) to respond. Once a good amount of time has passed, you may call a KOS if someone has failed to respond. An example of a correct life check is as shown: “Life check – respond or KOS”.
Recommended punishments for KOSing off of bad life checks are considered under the punishments for RDM.
2.11 - Camping/Delaying
In general, it is a Traitors job to hunt down and kill players. If a Traitor is staying in a spot not actively hunting for kills then the Traitor is camping and is viable to be given slays. If a Traitor is camping, secretly inform an admin that X is camping, and the admin can warn Traitors to stop camping before slaying the offending player if they continue.
Innocents are also not allowed to camp for too long, but are allowed to stay in the same spot for a few minutes, provided the round isn’t taking a long time. In overtime, Innocents cannot stay in the same spot.
You cannot stay in one place because you believe/know that you will die if you leave. You must still move out, as you are delaying otherwise.
Recommended punishments for delaying/camping are as follows:
Traitor: 3 slays
Innocent: 2 slays
2.12 - Claiming Areas
You cannot claim areas. Killing someone because they entered an area that you “claimed” will result in being punished based on the recommended RDM punishments.
2.13 - Scrap Payments
You cannot use scrap to get people to do actions, including damaging players, Traitor baiting, killing players, etc. You also cannot accept scrap to do actions.
This will result in heavy punishment, with the minimum being a 3 day temp-ban for both parties, but may be more depending on the case.
3.0 - Forum Rules
3.1 - Necromancy
Do not post to threads that haven’t been touched in over a month. New threads automatically close after a set period of inactivity, but old threads do not have this. This does not meant that you are allowed to post in them to get them closed. Bumping old threads multiple times will result in forum bans, with the length depending on how much bumping you have done/the severity of the bumping.
3.2 - Toxicity/Harrassment
This ties into rules 1.5 and 1.6. Don’t harass individuals, don’t be toxic to people, and don’t start fights. An example of what not to do is use a ban appeal thread to start a fight with the person appealing. If you have issues with someone, take it to staff to sort out. Being toxic and/or harassing people will lead to forum bans based on how you were acting.
4.0 - Discord Rules
4.1 - Pinging
Do not ping people randomly, mass ping specific people, or ping for no reason at all. Discord bans will be handed out to people for pinging, with the length depending on the severity of the pinging.
4.2 - Toxicity/Harassment
This is similar to rule 3.2. Don’t harass people, and don’t target people with toxicity. Throwing around occasional bad words is fine, we all do, but targetting people with it is not allowed. Discord bans will be used again here, with severity ranging based on the toxicity/harassment thrown at your target.
4.3 - Fighting
Do not pick fights with people, and do not purposefully join fights. If a fight is taking place, let a member of staff know and they can come in and break it up. Fighting adds nothing to discussion and should be kept to PM’s if it is an issue that is personal. Otherwise, just don’t. Discord bans, again, will be handed out.
4.4 - Shitposting
Keep excess shitposting to the shitposting channel. This includes a large amount of gif spam, constant messages that are intended to be stupid in a row, derailing conversations with stupid things, etc. Failure to follow this rule will result in kicks and temp bans from repeated infractions.
